The response was terrific ... and the lucky winners of Rick Mofina's "Six Seconds to Immortality" contest have been selected!
The book for review need not be fiction, but cannot be a technical
or textbook. It can also be any genre, not just the one in which the
author normally writes.
Writers Are Readers debuted with 33 inaugural reviews, some of which are written by ITW members and NY Times best-selling authors. Publishers Weekly (November 5, 2007, pg. 20) has already quoted one review, and the website is not yet two weeks old.
The publishers of the website recommend a professional tone suitable
for a major newspaper, but want authors to be authors, and applaud and
appreciate the individual voice and style. Once published, the reviews
are available to anyone, free of charge or site registration. Writers Are Readers hopes to build a lasting library of literate and helpful reviews as a resource for bookstores, libraries, readers and authors.
The QWAND LLC publishing unit wrongworld.com announced today a call for short story submissions produced on DVD for TV reading. Three stories will be offered on each DVD, accompanied by a video introduction with host Dr. Lyle Merrick.
“Our distribution model is similar to NetFlix and Blockbuster’s,” says WRONG WORLD™ creator Mike Tingle. “Customers select and order DVD rentals online. We then mail their selections to them. When finished with the DVD, the customer mails it back to us in the postage prepaid return envelope we provided. The rental period is two weeks for short stories.”A throwback to the suspense TV era of The Twilight Zone and One
Step Beyond, WRONG WORLD™ host Dr. Lyle Merrick introduces every story
with an original flash movie, and delivers a preview of upcoming
stories on the website.
“We welcome a wide range of stories—science fiction,
supernatural, suspense, horror, fantasy, paranormal, thriller, anything
that is chilling!” Tingle said.
Excerpts and movie previews for stories can be viewed in the WRONG WORLD™ DVD Guide.
