I was born and brought up in Cape Town, South Africa, where I still live. I have a PhD from the University of London, and spent some time in the USA as well. I was a university professor of history until I was in my forties, when I decided to change tack and try my luck as a writer. I have had three novels published, with modest success but huge enjoyment. I don't regard myself as primarily a crime/thriller writer, but my novels certainly involve crime.
