I've worked in academia and also in the mining industry in South Africa. I love the wild areas of Africa and I've travelled extensively in central and southern Africa. Much of that was with my great friend and co-author Stanley Trollip.
Our first mystery novel - written together - is A Carrion Death which was published by Harper Collins in April this year. In the book we introduced a food and drink loving detective in the Botswana Criminal Investigation Department with the nickname of 'Kubu' - Setswana for Hippopotamus. Our second Kubu novel will appear in midyear 2009.
