Joanne Hichens lives in Cape Town, South Africa with her husband and three children. With degrees in Fine Art and Psychology, and a Masters in creative writing from the University of Cape Town.

She co-authored a crime-thriller titled 'Out To Score', with Mike Nicol (Umuzi, the South African imprint of Random House, 2006) and penned a youth novel titled 'Stained' as part of the Ransom Publishing Cutting Edge Series for youth readers (2008) which has been published in Britain and France. She has written articles and short stories for various magazines, newspapers and anthologies.

Joanne edited the South African short story crime-thriller fiction collection BAD COMPANY, featuring seventeen crime fiction writers working in South Africa. With settings as diverse as the boardroom to the bedroom, the streets of Johannesburg to the alleyways of Kayelitsha, BAD COMPANY will give you a taste of the crime fiction coming out of South Africa.
