As a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, I was lucky enough to have met and been highly influenced by writers John Ciardi, James Dickey and Robert Heinlein. After graduating, I enjoyed a 20-year career as a Navy pilot and have since been an international airline pilot. I’ve drawn on my thirty-six years of global aviation experience and the thousands of hours in the cockpit (the equivalent of going around the world 300 times) to base the characters, settings and storyline of my work. An excerpt from my thriller, The Gene Weaver, was honored with the 2007 Rupert Hughes Award (Maui Writers Conference) and I’m honored to have received a blurb from author (and mentor) Jacquelyn Mitchard.
