Eight professional novelists, screenwriters and reviewers have banded
together to form a unique group, The Liars

Club. The Club includes
Jonathan Maberry (Bram Stoker Award-winner who writes
supernatural thrillers for Pinnacle, nonfic for Citadel and has just
turned in his firs bio-terrorism thriller to St. Martins Press);
Gregory Frost (currently writing YA fantasy for Random House); Jon
McGoran (who publishes forensics mysteries for Penguin as D H Dublin);
L. A. Banks (New York Times best-selling author of the Vampire Huntress
series); Kelly Simmons (her debut novel from Atria nailed a starred
review from PW); Duane Swierczynski (author of gritty crime novels for
St. Martin's Minotaur and comics for Marvel); Laura Schrock (Emmy
Award-winning TV producer and scriptwriter); and Ed Pettit (book
reviewer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and renowned expert on Edgar
Allen Poe).
The Liars Club was formed for networking and
mutual career support; but it's quickly expanding to include author
appearances, workshops, mentoring and signings. "We're authors from
different genres," observes Jon McGoran, "but at the end of the day
we're all authors and we all benefit from networking."
Why the
'Liars Club? "Well," says club co-founder Maberry, "after all, we make
stuff up for a living." Greg Frost observes, "Truth is stranger than
fiction... but in The Liars Club we do our best to work around that
minor obstacle."
The Liars Club formed in Philadelphia but they plan to expand outward and open chapters in other cities.
