Romantic Suspense on Steroids

The debut deal is as big and as bold as Jordan Dane's personality. Three books published back to back, one month after another starting with April's release No One Heard Her Scream. "They (HarperCollins/Avon) made me an offer I couldn't refuse-and without a horse head in my bed. For a debut author, this is an amazing first step in launching my writing career." Unusual for sure, but there is a method to Avon's madness. Avon's publisher, Liate Stehlik had this to say, "We are pursuing an aggressive release schedule because we believe strongly in this author. Jordan Dane is poised to be the 'next big thing' in the romantic suspense genre."
"Real crimes influence me and the tragedy of the Natalee Holloway case in Aruba-with the online theories that she could have been trafficked-was too powerful to ignore. I blended a suspense plot of human trafficking with a mystery story line of skeletal remains buried in a wall of an old theatre to create my debut book."It's a welcome new trend we are seeing in the thriller genre - the "Romanic Suspense Novel." Dane says, "I like to think of my books as 'romantic suspense on steroids.'" And Publishers Weekly agrees. They called No One Heard Her Scream "... a dynamite debut ... Dane's smooth style, believable characters and intense pacing will remind readers of Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner and Tami Hoag. While Dane's debut is being marketed as romantic suspense, it crosses over into plain thriller country: the tight plotting and the male characters are exceptional, bad guys and good."
Dane continues, "I didn't particularly set out to write a romantic suspense story. I only wrote the type of story I wanted to read. And I'm a voracious reader. I didn't try to make it one sub-genre or another. I merely included the types of elements I love as a reader. I like forensics and crime scenes, with elements of the police procedural and aspects of a great mystery, plus a little dark and unexpected humor thrown in. The romance is definitely there, but it has to make sense for the plot and my style of writing is get in, get out, be brief. I don't have long narratives dedicated to the growing bond between my characters and I don't force the relationship. The bond must develop naturally from the danger and the extreme situation my characters find themselves in."
Formerly an energy sales manager, Jordan Dane now is following her passion to write full time. Take a front row seat to suspense with Dane's back to back releases in April through June 2008--No One Heard Her Scream, No One Left to Tell, & No One Lives Forever.
