Late Bet by Douglas Stewart

late-bet.jpgAfter being cheated and ruined by a casino when playing roulette, Dex wants revenge – big time! Ignoring the dangers, he vows to destroy Space City, a glitzy mega-resort on the Las Vegas Strip and the discreet Dukes Casino in London’s Mayfair. Behind both casinos are the suave but sinister Audley Shawcross and Carlo Letizione, a Vegas veteran, schooled in the days of Tony Spilotro and Mob dominance of the Strip.

Dex involves fellow gambler Scotty Brannigan, a Las Vegas based Formula One Grand Prix racing driver to help. Scotty though has troubles of his own as does Mark, a brilliant blackjack card-counter who abuses cocaine. To Dex, pretty women are both an opportunity and a problem. Tiffany, a svelte BBC-TV journalist and Jude an outrageous Australian nurse, prove irresistible.

The mounting tension is set against a background of casino crime, money-laundering, and sports betting corruption at Grand Prix circuits likeMonaco and Indianapolis. Murders, suspense and jaw-dropping shocks abound as Shawcross fights dirty and without mercy in action racing between London and Vegas, the French Riviera and a Caribbean hideaway.
